Lynchburg is growing.  Since 1988, more than 11,000 new jobs have been created in the area, and growth is predicted to continue. Lynchburg's economy has successfully converted to high-tech manufacturing and services including cellular and radio communications, nuclear energy, pharmaceuticals and precision machinery and away from  the foundries, shoes and textiles mills of the past.
